Meet the YDVs

The Youth Development Volunteer programme is an exciting opportunity for young people to get involved with Connexions Staffordshire. Read what some of our YDVs had to say about it:

I am 19
I live in Winshill/Burton
I have been a YDV for nearly a year
 
I gained experience on how  connexions really works which was really helpful and improved my skills such as communication skills, team working skills, interviewing skills and many more and most importantly confidence in working in a team, meeting new people and doing presentations in front of people.
 
What i enjoy most about being a YDV is meeting up with other YDVs and catching up and knowing that every person i interview and the other activities i take part in, in the community will make a big difference to everyone that uses connexions and other company's.

I am 16 years old
I was born in Johannesburg in South Africa, and i have been living in Stoke on Trent in the United Kingdom since i was 2 and a half. 
I have been a YDV since January 2008
I have gained self confidence, i have found myself to be able to work better as a team member with other young people, how to interview people and how it is to be interviewed, learn't how to do different ice breaker activities.
The aspects of being a YDV i have enjoyed the most is the fact that i have been able to new people, to do different activities that i ahve never done before, to get to know different people and a bit about them in discussions. And to be able to go away with a certificate at the end of it and to be proud of what we are capable of.

what i enjoy most about being a ydv is the residentials because you get to know people more and work as a team and have fun. i also like being involved in the recruitment and selection process
