Why choose self employment?
People work for themselves for a variety of reasons. You may be considering starting your own business because you hope to get:
- more money
- the satisfaction of building a business from scratch
- the chance to use your hobby, interests or skills to do something more interesting
- freedom and independence to make your own decisions
- flexibility to work times that fit in with family commitments
- the pleasure that comes from being your own boss.
Lots of young people do start their own businesses and achieve many of these things – but not all businesses succeed…

- lack of experience.
