If you’re younger than school leaving age, an employer can decide exactly how much they want to pay you.
However, at the end of the summer term of the school year in which you turn 16, you become eligible for the national minimum wage.
What is the national minimum wage?
The national minimum wage is the lowest hourly amount that an employer in the UK can pay you by law. They can pay you more than the national minimum wage, but they must not pay you less.
