If you're taking a full-time course of at least 12 hours a week leading to your first Level 2 (GCSE Grade A* - C equivalent) or level 3 (A level equivalent) qualification, you may be entitled to an Adult Learning Grant of up to £30 a week during term-time. That’s around £1,000 a year.
Eligibility depends on your income during the previous financial year and the type of benefit you’re claiming.
You won't be able to get ALG if you claim 'out of work' benefits such as Jobseekers Allowance or Income Support. But you may be eligible if you're working part-time, or you’re claiming 'in work' benefits, like Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit.
